Robert Milstid has been creating literary works for many years. His writing first took form as a playwright, authoring two plays, “Just a Phase” and “I Was a Pig for a Day and Nobody Noticed.” Both plays were produced and performed in Houston, Texas. “Pig”, also enjoyed a three-month run in New York City at the 13th Street Repertory Theatre. Mr. Milstid became involved in the theatre as an actor as well. He studied at the National Shakespeare Conservatory in New York and was a highly active member of a professional theatre, Main Street in Houston Texas for several years.

In 1989 he and his wife moved to Hoboken, New Jersey, just across the Hudson River from Manhattan.
His one-man show, Diary of a Nonconformist was created, written, and rehearsed by Mr. Milstid on the roof of his Brownstone Hoboken apartment. This show was booked at the now infamous, CBGBs in the East Village. He also went on to perform in several plays while in New York City that included a lead role in the world premiere of Lanny Hill’s original play, “Uncle Alton”, as well as becoming an active company member of the 13th Street Repertory Theater. Mr. Milstid began writing an abundant supply of poetry and free verse performance pieces during his time in NYC, performing at the Nuyorican’s Poetry Café, CBGB’s. The Anarchist’s Bookstore and various other venues.

After moving to Florida, Mr. Milstid spent several years working as a scenic carpenter, eventually starting his own custom carpentry business. The years rolled on finding his marriage in shambles. In 2005 he was divorced and then penned his first painful yet cathartic novel titled, The Consequences of Breathing. This writing was shelved and forced to marinate for some twelve years but was recently re-written and released in May of 2017 for public consumption. After penning “TCOB”, Mr.Milstid took a hiatus from writing. In 2012 the keys were calling and he began writing his second highly unique book, Transitions, which cameos the lives of those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and the struggles of their families.
“Transitions” was finished in 2013 and made available on Amazon.com in Kindle as well as print. “Transitions” was recently accepted into the Greenfield Alzheimer’s library in Chicago. Greenfield is the most extensive Alzheimer’s library in the United States. Transitions has also been accepted into the Alzheimer’s Association’s North Chapter library in Altamonte Springs, Florida, and is on their recommended reading list. It has also just been added to The Alzheimer’s Society’s Knowledge Center in the UK!
Several promotional engagements for Transitions have offered audiences a taste of his flowing and empathetic speaking style born from years of acting and public speaking.
Mr. Milstid’s third book, Three Wheels Out, promises to be a powerful and intriguing book for the YA/NA genre. “TWO” was released in March of 2014 on Amazon.com. With the 2017 version of The Consequences of Breathing out and available to the public, and now the second edition of Transitions available as well, Mr. Milstid is ready to take on his next literary adventure! His writing is raw, humble, provocative, and unpredictable. His genres are purposefully varied so as to offer new approaches in his art. Writing is a passion for Robert Milstid and with several new book projects underway, it doesn’t appear to be slowing down. Mr. Milstid still rides his motorcycle and his mountain bike as well as his skateboard. He loves time with his four children, his wife, and his rescue dog.

A long life in a short time, this is Robert Milstid.
